This newsletter is authored by Tucker Andersen, the managing partner of Above All Advisors LLC. It is also available as a printed document or by email. During the introductory period of the newsletter, this web site will also feature the columns in unabridged form, although there may on occasion be a time delay prior to their posting on this site. The nature and extent of the availability of this commentary on this web site subsequent to March 30, 2005 has not been determined at the current time. There will be a notice posted here prior to that date containing information with regard to the continuing availability of the content of this newsletter to those individuals and organizations who are not clients of Above All Advisors. A complimentary subscription will continue to be provided to our clients. The timing will be irregular, but no less often than twice a month. The Above All newsletter will contain commentary concerning the financial markets as well as political and economic observations and insights concerning investment theory and practice. On occasion, it may also include specific investment recommendations, either regarding asset allocation, industry overviews or specific stock selections. While the material will most often be presented in the format of a general discussion of a specific topic, there will be at least three other methodologies employed on occasion. First, a question and answer format – this will be utilized in instances where such a format seems to provide sufficient educational benefit in discussing a particular topic, or alternatively when responding to actual questions received from readers that I decide may be of broad general interest, or finally if an interview with another individual is deemed of sufficient interest that an edited version is provided in the newsletter. Second, some newsletters will provide brief commentaries on a diverse range of topics, including follow-up clarifications, addenda when deemed necessary, or significant changes in opinion. Third, some columns, to be titled IF I WERE in order to distinguish their content, will be written to advocate a specific course of action with regard to a specific topic which I consider to be of major importance. (E.g. two topics under consideration are IF I WERE an SEC Commissioner, the following reasons are why I would emphasize a principles based approach rather than a rules based approach to corporate governance reform, or The approach to the reform of Fannie Mae that I would introduce IF I WERE a member of Congress.) The subject matter of the Above All newsletter will be a combination of commentary and analysis occasioned by contemporary events (e.g. the speculation concerning potential impact of the 2004 Presidential election on the financial markets contained in the inaugural issue) intermixed with columns which might be characterized as more instructional and philosophical in content regarding various issues impacting investors and business executives. I expect that the format and content of the publication will gradually evolve, and welcome feedback from its readers at the email address shown below.
